The story behind the name

A locomotive that started with joy.

La YeYé was a locomotive introduced in Spain in the 1960s. Train drivers nicknamed it 'La YeYé' because of the cheerful sound it made when it pulled away. That joy at the start of a journey is what we wanted every guest to feel.

The concept

Space, flavour and concept, designed together from day one.

We designed a modern space full of references to railway stations: departure boards for the menu, station-style signage, platform benches and globe lamps. We worked with the chef from the very beginning to create a holistic experience.

The brand

There are stops worth the journey.

We created the brand concept and logo: a friendly little locomotive face hidden inside the Y. It lives on the sign, the cups, the menu, the napkins and the tote bag.

The menu

Affordable, but first class.

The chef designed an affordable, high-end menu that nods to the railways, with flavours that take guests to regions of Spain and Europe — without leaving their lunch break.

Moments of the experience

Small gestures that turn a break into a journey.

Headphones on the tables

For those who eat alone and want a more immersive experience: put them on and the office stays behind.

A window to the landscape

A window to the landscape

The bathroom has a window playing a video of landscapes seen from a train: a symbolic trip in the middle of the workday.

A mirror that lifts you up

A mirror that lifts you up

Instead of a mirror, a message: "You are perfect!" — a small boost of self-esteem for anyone who wants to look.

Engaging the neighbourhood

Engaging the neighbourhood

We are planning engaging activities for the people who work in the offices nearby, so the café becomes part of their day.

Next stop

Because some stops are worth the journey.

La YeYé is still on its way. We'll keep sharing the journey as the space opens its doors.
